What went down in Thailand

Well number one can I just say it took me over a week to write this post MAJOR holiday blues! I had the most amazing time in Thailand, And a big thanks to the 6 lovely ladies I was lucky enough to share it with- all the travelling we did and madness we had- memories that will last a lifetime! I haven’t posted a blog since I left because I decided for once, I need a break 🙂

I’ve had loads of mails asking all different questions about my trip I’ll cover it all in this post, Firstly I’ve had lots of people asking how We went about booking it (and anyone thinking of doing it GO!)

Booking it

I did all the booking myself, One of my friend’s was there last year so we kinda had a good idea of where we were going and what we wanted to do! Do your research and ask around before you go, If you have the time visit everywhere but if you are just doing a two week thing like I did be selective in what areas you visit- time is of the essence!

I booked flights with Emirates (can’t recommend them enough!) We flew Dublin>Dubai>Bangkok and then we did some travelling internally too while island hopping (once you decide where you want to go it’s so easy to organise this- some will be flights you can book beforehand, others are boats which you can book as easy as a taxi when you are there)

We done Bangkok, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Tao and Koh Samui!

You will spend your time drinking out of buckets….

What to bring

I wish I was told this before I went- The mosquitoes will eat you alive over there, I usually never get bitten and even if I did it would be very small, Thailand has monster flies (I’m sure there is a better term I could use but, hey!) I was using a strong insect repellent and still manages to have LOVELY sores on my legs (probably from all the beach parties, I won’t moan it was worth been eaten alive the fun we had!)

Be sure to bring away a strong spray like ‘Deet’ some antihistamines and steroid cream for your bites! You will thank me!

Clothes- wise it’s probably the most casual place I’ve ever been too- No heels, although I did bring a pair of slightly wedged sandals (I can’t do going out in flats!) You mainly need beachwear and then for night shorts, vests and casual dresses! I’d even bring a pair of trainers too- keep it comfy!

Make up and hair is casual too, I would recommend a good tinted moisturiser, get some semi permanent lashes before you jet off (It will save you from doing mascara/eye make up whilst away) and bring some styling products and bobbins!

Where I would recommend to stay

There are tons of gorgeous places to stay in Thailand you can do it really cheap if you are backpacking or if it’s a holiday and you want something a little more fancy it’s still quite cheap, Again do a bit of research, My go to website is ‘Trip advisor” because people upload pictures and write mini reviews- you can kind of get a feel for the accommodation! We only booked 3 nights hotel before we left Ireland- The rest we booked over there, depending on what your doing you might/might not want to do this, I liked it because we had the freedom to stay on an island for longer or move on to our next adventure!

I would keep your time in Bangkok to a minimum,  We just stayed there over night, The nightlife is good- certain places can be a bit dodgy so just be careful and don’t go anywhere alone.

The first island we went to was Phi Phi, It was probably my favourite, This island has no cars and the people are so nice! The nightlife was mental we had so much fun, We also managed to get in a boat party which was a day of visiting monkey island (you get to feed monkeys in their natural habitat) Maya bay – one of thee most beautiful places I have ever seen (leonardo di caprio’s film ‘The Beach’ was filmed here) and the usual jumping off cliffs and other stuff you only do in paradise 🙂 We met so many cool people from all corners of the World- If you are thinking of travelling alone the place to do it is Thailand!

We then travelled over to the other side of Thailand (we travelled boat, then coach then boat) to Koh Tao, This island is absolutely stunning, The nightlife isn’t as crazy but 7 Irish ladies managed to make it a little bit more interesting! It’s more of a scenic island, it’s great for diving and chilling out, It would be a definite one for couples too!

Lastly We went to Koh Samui- I loved this island too, The nightlife was great and we stayed in a hotel with a dj on from 12pm-2am every night (not a place to stay if your looking for quiet time!) this would be one of the more commercialised islands (I’ll admit it was sooooo good to see a mcdonalds on the way home from a nightclub!) there are amazing hotels on this island, We visited an elephant sanctuary and some Buddhist temples on this island too, There’s loads to do on the island (not just clubs!) I would make this a must visit no matter what sort of holiday you’re on!

The moment you know you should go home

🙂

Beach parties, Buckets and soooo much fun are only a plane ticket away- I would say stop making excuses and DO IT!

After two weeks of some of the best moments of my life (most images not suitable for social media lol) it’s time to get back into work and blogging!

Any more questions I’m only an email away 🙂
